Our story

From dream to reality

In 2014, Bruno and Marisella Batinti discovered a magical place: the remains of an ancient Olivetan abbey, founded in 1495 by seven Benedictine friars from the Monastery of San Secondo on Isola Polvese, on Lake Trasimeno. A building of Sienese red brick, witness to five centuries of history, that was only waiting to come back to life.

Driven by a passion for hospitality and the desire to give new life to this heritage, they undertook a careful restoration that preserved the soul of the monastery: exposed beams, terracotta floors, architecture from another age. The friars' old cells became 13 unique rooms, the ancient refectory was transformed into the restaurant's "Sala Grande", and contemporary additions such as the SPA and the Casa sull'Albero completed the vision.

Today, Le Torri di Porsenna is a refined Charme & Wellness agriturismo where every guest can enjoy an authentic experience of beauty, history and tranquillity.

The Monastery

Year 1495

The Abbey of the Madonna del Pino

The abbey, originally called the Abbey of the Madonna del Pino, was founded in 1495 by seven Benedictine friars of the Olivetan order. The building was constructed in the characteristic red brick of the Siena region, reflecting the sober, elegant architecture of the order.

In the 18th century, the property passed from a religious site to a private agricultural estate, yet kept its monastic architecture intact. The restoration preserved the original elements: the wooden beams, the terracotta floors, the stone vaults and the windows that frame timeless views.

The name "Porsenna" pays homage to Lars Porsenna, the legendary Etruscan king of Chiusi, a town just 20 minutes away. The famous Labyrinth of Porsenna, described by Pliny the Elder, remains one of the most fascinating archaeological attractions in the area.

The same views, the same UNESCO landscapes, the same food and wine experiences. Two regions, one extraordinary experience.

Wine and oil

Our own production

Our wine and our oil

At the heart of the estate, 450 centuries-old olive trees produce an extra virgin olive oil of unique character, used in our kitchen and available to our guests.

Two hectares of vineyard, replanted during the restoration with the first harvest in 2017, yield around 5,000 bottles a year of a blend of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Merlot: a wine that tells the story of the border between the two regions.

Our vegetable garden supplies fresh seasonal produce to the restaurant, where every dish is a journey through the authentic flavours of Umbria and Tuscany.
